Solar PV
There has been a massive uptake in solar PV installations in recent months due to returns on investment of around 15%. Installing a solar array results in the ability to generate your own electricity and receive a guaranteed income from Feed In Tariffs (FIT’s) for 25 years.
The latest announcement that FIT’s are to be reduced earlier than expected has caused some concern in the industry. Many believed the current FIT levels were unsustainable and inflated and therefore welcomed a review, though not this early. The new proposals are subject to consultation, but if implemented tariffs will reduce considerably.
Despite the new tariff levels potential investors should not be deterred. The change has forced suppliers to cut prices and margins so that initial returns in the region of 10% are still being expected. Intensive users of electricity such as poultry farms for example, could still achieve a 12% return. Halls work with well established solar PV company The Green Electrician.
