CALVES (103)
Auctioneer: Stuart Richards
A mixed trade today with the very best still on fire but the rest a little slower thanks to the worries over feeding and bedding costs this winter. It pays to grow them on a bit at the moment if you can.

The best continental bull came from the James of Haughton Hall today and sold well to £355. Mr Price of The Woodlands had another good one up at £325 and a second at £315 to boot whilst the Williams of Nil Green made £295 of theirs. The best Lims from the Corfields at Spout Lane sold to £290 as did the best Sims from the Williams of Haston Grove which equalled that price. There were a lot more blues to choose from with the best of the rest making anywhere between £220 and £290. Two nice Herefords from J D Jones of Marton Grange made £185 and £172 to top the natives whilst the best Angus’s from the Darlingtons of Bell O’ The’ Hill were making £200. Friesians were a little less money today with the best only making £92 from the James as above mediums around that £60 mark and smalls up to £45.

Blue heifers from Mr Price again were the pick of the day at £308 and £300 a piece with smaller examples selling up to £255 from S E Roberts of Beechfield Farm. Lims from the Shinglers sold to £202 and Angus’s from the Roberts of Wain House Farm sold to £152.
