A weird and wonderful selection in the cull cow ring today with no 2 cows the same and buyers eager to purchase all the shapes and sizes that were of offer!! Tank you vendors for your continued support, you can see the trade were get her for the cows with our mix of Processing and feeding buyers is maximising the prices week in week out!

Today the cows were in sharper demand, particular for the feeding types both tested and untested would be 10ppk dearer, but the quality would be 10ppk less overall with some more lean feeding types in the market today which is the result of the very favourable trade we have been having here.

Great to see J T & GH Jones put cows over £1000 with An Angus and Dairy cows to 122ppk or £954.04 for D J Willis & Partners

Thank you all buyers and sellers

CALVES (88)

AUCTIONEER: STUART RICHARDS

A much better trade today, especially given the type of calves forward.

The very best bulls were a strong trade with the top price of £340 going to Mr Lewis of Caenymyndd Farm with a smashing Blue. The Shinglers of Seven Springs Farm  did equally as well with £310 being achieved for a nice Lim whilst Mr Jones of Talerddig Farm would have been happy with £310 for a cracking Angus. Other blues from Mr Morris of Rose Cottage Farm were trading at £250 whilst Sims from the Mountfords of Lower Heldre was making £198. Herefords were generally a better trade with £170 being paid for a nice example from the Williams of Nil Green and £160 being made of one from the Evans of Fords Heath. Best Friesians today were much improved both in quality and the price with Mr Lewis of Woodcote Farm making £98, £90 and £88 of first second and third.  Mr Francis of Cottage Farm sold the last ever calf today which was a Friesian at £78. We wish the family all the best for the future. Medium Friesians were £40 - £60 and smalls up to £30.

The Pains of New House Farm topped the trade in the Heifers with £332 for another top quality Charollais. Limousines from Jones of Ladyhill Farm were up to £282 with another from the Shinglers at £250. There was little in the way of quality blue heifers with the best only making £140 but Angus’s were in demand with £195 being paid for one from the Allmark . Herefords were similar money with the best from Mr Lewis of Caenymyndd Farm doing £180.
