24 hour Duathlon Success!

Trainee Surveyor Lucy Wilde, at Halls Commercial, joined forces with team members from Shrewsbury county leisure company Salop Leisure to raise money for a popular colleague who is bravely fighting terminal cancer.

On Saturday, June 22, Lucy joined Salop Leisure’s’ Marketing Manager, Ed Glover and Love2Stay joint general manager Chris Skitt in the 24 hour Duathlon. The immense challenge tested Lucy’ strength and endurance having to cycle, run or walk nonstop for 24 hours. The challenge took place at Salop Leisure’s Emstrey headquarters, with other team members and even the Mayor of Shrewsbury attending to show support for the challenge throughout the day.

After receiving his terminal cancer diagnosis Darren Lloyd (Lloyd’y) wants to share his story and create awareness about the importance of seeking medical advice as early as possible and not to ignore the symptoms. His kindness and bravery in fighting this on-going battle persuaded Lucy, Ed and Chris to take on the duathlon.

‘It was an honour to be part of such a huge challenge, I’m so proud of myself for being able to complete it and help a truly worthy cause at the same time’ comments Lucy.

Money raised from the duathlon will go towards a ‘bucket list’ holiday for Darren and his family to enjoy and create some special memories. A Just Giving page has been created for anyone wishing to support the fundraising for Darren at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/lloydy.
